My Word for 2020
As I sit at my desk, looking out at my back yard, I'm sipping coffee and marveling at how fast time flies. I say it often, FEEL it often, this race of time toward...what?
I had so many, many plans in 2019. Just re-reading my previous entry on this blog, I was surprised at how much fell by the wayside. I'd planned to do my "yearly" blog series, 30 in 30 Thankfully, but that didn't happen, mostly because I was sick, and I was preoccupied with Celebrate October, and then Celebrate December...
Life interferes with our best laid plans. Always.
My word for 2019 was BECOMING, and it was a quiet word, an unfolding word. I learned so much, following that word through the last 12 months, and I did a whole lot of becoming. I'm mostly happy with how 2019 turned out, though still staggered that it's over already, and the new roaring twenties have begun.
For 2020, I wanted an action word, one that would help me tackle some personal issues that continue to challenge me, and I visited with some words for awhile, but then the word that sort of whispered in my ear was RESOLVE. I looked up the dictionary definition, and one part of that made this word my choice for this year.
The definition reads: "to make something progress from dissonance to consonance."
Every time I read that, I get the "goosies," as my friend Shirley says. That definition relates to harmony in music, but it directly applies to my situation, those issues I mentioned before, and I have a deep knowing that this word will take me on a spectacular adventure as the year ahead unfolds.
I've begun the work with this word for the Ali Edwards class, and it's already helping me to create action around the things I want to accomplish in 2020--and that list is long! I'm so excited to see what the year has in store for me.
So, Happy New Year, one week in! I hope you're doing well, enjoying the return to routine after the holidays. I hope to share more of everything going on with me in the weeks to come, including layout from Celebrate October, which is humming along nicely, and the Celebrate December album as I work on it.
