Two New Layouts - Starting Point Style

For this layout, I started looking for patterned papers that would coordinate with the colors in the photo:

That's the DCWV Mediterranean Cafe, I think it's called. The shades of greens and orange and red went perfectly with the flowers in the photo, and the touches of blue echoed the pattern on the hospital gown my Mom's wearing.

Next, I measured and cut and put the background together.

The pale yellow appealed to me as the canvas for my journaling, and here's how I put the rest of the page together:

(Supplies: Card stock by Recollections. Patterned paper by DCWV. Border sticker by Little Yellow Bicycle. Letter stickers by Pink Paislee. Glitter by Stickles. Shimmer ink by Mister Huey for American Crafts. Border punch by Stampin' Up!)

I "fussy cut" from patterned paper to create embellishments, and I admit I struggled a bit with the layering, trying to get the balance of patterned papers that would work together. A fun page to make, and I'm still delighted with the variety that can emerge from one page base. I'll definitely be using this one again.

A little different Starting Point inspired me to create this page:

(Supplies: Patterned paper by Basic Grey, Close to My Heart, Reminisce, and unknown manufacturer. Corrugated flowers by Little Yellow Bicycle. Ribbon by Stampin' Up! Die cuts by Girls Paperie and K&Company. Playing card, unknown manufacturer. Brads by Bo Bunny. Flowers by Petaloo. Gems by Hero Arts and K&Company.)

Because the photos were taken on St. Patrick's Day, I looked for green patterned papers and found some St. Patty's Day themed scraps that worked well on this page. Lots of different shades of green, with a little white thrown in, and just a touch of blue to coordinate with the stripes in my niece Olivia's shirt and the blue train.
