Four years ago today, I lost that beautiful spirit to pancreatic cancer, after watching her lose her mind and memory to dementia in small fragments over time.
She was a strong, fierce, loving, stubborn, funny, smart, sarcastic, creative delight of a woman. Not only was she a good mother to six children and their spouses, she was a proud grandmother and great-grandmother, and a faithful friend.
We had a lot of good times together, even after the dementia stole too much from her.
I miss her.
I always will.
